Humanitarian Action Challenge #3 at EPFL LEURE
Project: Accelerating the reduction of the environmental impact of humanitarian action
October 2023 – June 2025
This project aimed to reduce the knowledge gap in impact analysis specifically for the humanitarian sector, therefore speeding up the decarbonization of the humanitarian supply chain (which was identified to be the biggest issue in the sector as a whole).
Drive Impact founder Ashima, as scientific collaborator, performed Life-Cycle Assessments on key items in the humanitarian supply chain, focusing largely on 'essential household items' that are mostly made of plastic.
Using the LCAs, the team also created an Emission Factor Database, tailoured specifically for humanitarian use, as well as a decision-making framework to take action on the impact assessments of the LCAs
